Going through more compile errors. Came across the trie.c function. Recall I wrote that since analysis of the code showed a rather large portion of time spent command parsing (dont forget how slow computers were back then). Nothing beats a Trie for efficiency in command parsing, and the sequence with which nodes are added determines which commands get priority 🙂

Yesterday I peeked at the “justice system”. I recall implementing a rather advanced crime and reporting system for the Midgaard zone. Players can report crimes they’ve seen committed by other players. And when they do, there’s bounty on that player’s head. Which means all the city guards will attack you. And when they do they have a fancy whistle to blow which makes all guards in that zone home in on your location. Can be quite deadly. But you can also get away with crimes if you’re fast and smart… 🙂 Attacking shopkeepers is dangerous business. Oh and that reminds me of the god’s ultimate tool. Hel. She’s the grim reaper from Nordic mythology. Gods can place a bounty on a player’s head and Hel will take care of the rest.

Got finished removing all the compile errors on the main server code. Phew 🙂 Got 342 link errors to deal with some other day.  And it’s probably going to core crash too when that’s over. We’ll see :*)
